    It says this will protect dogs against the American dog tick, yet in another question here it answered that it would not protect against ticks.

    回答：

    Yes, Revolution protects dogs against "the American dog tick (Dermacenter variabilis)". However it doesn't give 100% protection on other kind of ticks, therefore we recommend to be used with with some other tick protection product, if you live in risky area. You can also try Simparica Trio, which is produced by the same manufacturer (Zoetis) but gives full protection against all type of ticks, fleas and most common intestinal parasites.
