您可能不知道的跳蚤三件事。
如果您正面臨跳蚤問題，您大概正想用自己所知的最佳方法解決它。 但跳蚤很難根除。 牠們是生命力頑強的小蟲。 以下是許多人不知道的三件跳蚤小知識。 您對牠們了解得越多，就越有可能成功控制牠們。
 
 
跳蚤會裝死
好吧，牠們其實不是真的在裝死。 牠們不會互相低語說："她來了！"，然後四腳朝天地撲倒在地毯上。 但濕掉的跳蚤可能看起來像死了，因為牠動彈不得。 許多飼主會用一般洗毛精——不是除蚤洗毛精——幫寵物洗澡，之後跳蚤看似死掉了。 由於跳蚤沒有動，飼主便認為普通洗毛精能殺死跳蚤。 
 
 
但那些跳蚤其實沒有死。 當跳蚤被水完全浸濕時，牠不會移動——但一旦乾了，就會恢復活力。 您可以親自測試。 只要在用普通洗毛精替寵物洗完澡後，從牠身上捉幾隻無法動彈的跳蚤下來。 把牠們放進夾鏈袋並密封好。 把袋子放下，去做幾個小時別的事。 當您回來查看時，可能會看見跳蚤在袋子裡活動——彷彿起死回生。
 
 
跳蚤會等著您
有時，人們以為只要暫時把寵物帶離跳蚤肆虐的房子，就能解決跳蚤問題。 也許您正要離開夏季住所回到城市，或是有一間幾個月內都不會再去的度假屋。 您以為跳蚤會餓死。
 
 
事情並不是這樣。 跳蚤有不同的生長階段： 卵、幼蟲、蛹和成蟲。 有些未成熟的跳蚤能休眠一年以上，並能在冬季低溫中存活。 牠們要等到感受到震動——例如吸塵，或人與寵物走動——或偵測到經過動物呼出的二氧化碳，才會孵化。 因此，當您回到夏季住所時，即使已經離開好幾個月，跳蚤仍會孵化並發動攻擊。
 
 
那些棕色小點不是跳蚤卵
嚴重感染跳蚤的寵物身上，會布滿紅棕色的小點。 許多人以為這些小點是跳蚤卵，但其實不是。 跳蚤卵是白色的，看起來像鹽粒。 紅棕色小點則是跳蚤糞便，也稱為跳蚤髒污。 如果您的寵物和牠的睡床看起來像被撒上鹽和胡椒，您看到的就是跳蚤卵和跳蚤髒污。
 
 
因為跳蚤吸血，牠們的糞便基本上就是乾掉的血。 如果把寵物弄濕，您可以判斷牠身上是有跳蚤髒污，還是只是單純髒了。 一般灰塵會讓洗澡水變成棕色；跳蚤髒污會在水中溶解，讓洗澡水變紅。 飼主幫身上沾滿跳蚤髒污的寵物洗澡時，有時會以為紅色的水表示 Patches 或 Butch 正因跳蚤叮咬而流血。 事實上，水變紅是溶解的跳蚤髒污造成的。 如果紅色的沖洗水讓您嚇了一跳，了解真正的情況會很有幫助。

    I didn't know that about wet fleas - I had always assumed they were dead. However, as they then get flushed away, I'm not too concerned as they are no longer on my pet, but it is interesting. I have cats, so I don't bath them, but I do use a wet flea comb through their fur when I suspect fleas, and I transfer the fleas I collect from the comb to a bowl of wáter which I tip down the sink after.

    Hi my cats have fleas and this was so helpful. We would wash the cats off and the fleas would stop moving. Now I know that they're not dead.

    WOW, I didn't know that, funny story, I found one on me a little bit ago and decided to put it in water and seal the lid...assumed it was dead when it stopped moving, but decided to not open it just in case it wasn't so i guess I made the right choice, so I basically now have a hostage flea...good to know, maybe I'll make the fleas on my dog pay a ransom lol
